The Miami County Ambassadors of the Peru/Miami County Chamber of Commerce are a public relations booster and goodwill organization dedicated to a greater community. They conduct ribbon cuttings to welcome new businesses to our area or those that have changed locations and host various networking opportunities for our existing businesses and industries. Miami County Ambassador Activities: Business Break: The Business Break is a luncheon held the first Wednesday every other month beginning in February. The lunches begin at 12 noon at a particular location. Members have an opportunity to share information with other members such as special events, new services, new employees, etc. The luncheon also features two speakers that will present a brief overview of their business and the services they offer. The 2008 schedule is February 6th, April 9th (second Wednesday due to spring break), June 4th, August 6th, October 1st and December 3rd. If you are interested in speaking at a Business Break, please let us know as soon as possible. The only charge for being a presenter is the cost of your lunch. Business After Hours: The Business After Hours are held randomly throughout the year at various businesses. The Miami County Ambassadors will take care of sending out the invitations, making personal invites to Chamber members to increase attendance and greet individuals as they arrive. The cost to host a Business After Hours is $125 and refreshments are the responsibility of the participating business. This is a great way to get Chamber members inside your door. Ribbon Cuttings: This is a way to welcome a new business or recognize an expansion with an existing business. You need not be a Chamber member for this service. It is just our way of showing our community support. The Ambassadors make the necessary contacts such as local officials and media, plus supply the ribbon and the scissors. Miami Mike: The Miami Mike is an award that is presented to a Chamber member in recognition for making more of Miami County through expansion, considerable improvements and/or a new structure. Surf Boards on Parade: Each year the Ambassadors feature a different circus character/animal for their float in the Circus City Parade. Businesses/organizations then dress them to make creative artwork throughout the town to celebrate our circus heritage. Winners are then featured on a float in the Circus City Festival Parade. This event has become very popular in our community. The cost to be a sponsor is $100. |
